Black Catholics census underway

Census to count Catholics of African descent

For the first time in over 20 years, a census to count and better serve Catholics of African descent in the Archdiocese of Denver is underway, said Sandra Moore-Mann, director of African American Ministries for the archdiocese.

Pastors are asked to assign a parish representative to distribute and collect the census forms being sent to all parishes, Mann said. Deadline for returning completed questionnaires to parish representatives is Nov. 12. All information is confidential, Mann said.

The purpose of the census is to provide information to the Archdiocesan Black Catholic Advisory Council. The results will help the council to broaden evangelization efforts and to know the needs of Black Catholics, Mann said.
