Dominican Sisters of Hope celebrate anniversaries

At a recent gathering at Mount St. Alphonsus in Esopus, N.Y., the Dominican Sisters of Hope honored several jubilarians from around the country observing 50, 60, 70 and 75-year anniversaries.

Among them were Sister Marie Therese McGath and Sister Mary Regis Nuva of Denver and Sister Mary Rose Wittekind of Ossining, N.Y., who once served in Denver.

Sister Marie Therese celebrated her 70th anniversary. Sister Mary Regis and Sister Mary Rose celebrated 50 years.

At a festive meal held during the assembly, each jubilarian was presented with a hope candle and was given special recognition for her gifts and achievements in service to the Church and to the Dominican family.

The Dominican Sisters of Hope were founded in 1995 from the following three Congregations of Dominican Sisters: Dominican Sisters of the Most Holy Rosary of Newburgh, N.Y.; Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor of Ossining, N.Y.; and Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena of Fall River, Mass.
