Benedictine sister celebrates 25th jubilee
Benedictine Sister Clare Carr will celebrate her 25th jubilee anniversary as a religious sister Aug. 12.
Daughter of Mrs. Helen Carr of Broomfield, Sister Clare graduated from Wheat Ridge High School. She received a bachelor's degree from Colorado State University and a master's degree from St. Meinrad's School of Theology in Indiana.
Since entering religious life at Benet Hill Monastery in Colorado Springs, Sister Clare has served in a variety of ministries in Colorado Springs and the Denver area. From 1979-85 she was the youth director at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Lakewood and from 1986-91 she was the director of religious education at Guardian Angels Parish in Denver. At Benet Hill Monastery she directed Benet Hill Center, the vocations program, and co-directed Benet Pines Retreat Center.
In May, Sister Clare received a master's in counseling from Colorado University-Colorado Springs. She also has completed requirements for the National Certification Board and is currently working on certification in addiction counseling. She plans to work in the field of substance abuse counseling in the Denver area.
Along with five other Benet Hill jubilarians, Sister Clare will be honored at a special Eucharistic Liturgy 10 a.m. Aug. 12 at Benet Hill auditorium. A reception will follow at Benet Hill Center.
