`King and I' performance to benefit Mullen Home
Aug. 19 matinee at local playhouse to help fund home for elderly poor
Your $40 ticket to the Country Dinner Playhouse's production of the Broadway hit "The King and I" could provide the Little Sisters of the Poor with funds needed to care for the elderly poor at Mullen Home.
The Jeanne Jugan Auxiliary is organizing an Aug. 19 matinee benefit. Proceeds will go to the Little Sisters of the Poor.
The Little Sisters of the Poor were founded in 1839 in France by Jeanne Jugan to minister to needy elderly.
"For over 80 years Mullen home has served the Rocky Mountain region by taking care of the elderly poor, sick and dying," said Kay Ballen, president of the board for Jeanne Jugan Auxiliary. "(The Little Sisters of the Poor) dedicate their lives in care for the elderly poor. They give back to the elderly the dignity that is lost through aging."
Mullen Home ministers to needy elderly regardless of ethnic background or religion and devotes its time to providing a home and community for those with few resources, emphasized Ballen.
In its 25th year of fund-raising for Mullen Home, the Jeanne Jugan Auxiliary is selling tickets for an all-you-can-eat buffet and matinee show Aug. 19 at the Country Dinner Playhouse in Englewood. Doors open at noon and the buffet is open from noon to 1:10 p.m. The pre-show performance beings at 1:15 p.m. and the main performance at 1:45 p.m. Those unable to attend are invited to donate a ticket to a Mullen Home resident.
"Please support this wonderful event for the Little Sisters," said Ballen.
