Archbishop to bless stadium
Capuchin friars partner with Denver Broncos
Friends of the Friars announce the Brown Robe Benefit, the 8th annual gala to benefit the Capuchin Franciscan Friars and the Denver Broncos Charities Fund. This year's event will be held on Friday, Oct. 5 at INVESCO Field at Mile High.
Special highlight of the Brown Robe Benefit will be the inaugural "Blessing of the Stadium" by Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. For the seventh consecutive year, Pat and Annabel Bowlen will serve as honorary chairpersons of the gala.
The Capuchin Friars are a community of religious men who live and work in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi. They dedicate their lives to caring for the poor, the sick, the elderly, the homeless, the forgotten and those in conflict. Local projects include ministry to Front Range migrant farmworkers, counsel to inmates, and service to inner-city poor of all ages.
The Denver Broncos Charities Fund is a fund of the Robert R. McCormick Tribune Foundation, which provides matching funds for a portion of the revenues received from this event. The Denver Broncos Charities Fund supports Colorado programs designed to positively impact youth in the areas of education, athletics, and life skills. It sponsors programs devoted to physically or mentally challenged individuals, the hungry and the homeless.
Major sponsors for the Brown Robe Benefit include United Airlines and the Denver Newspaper Agency. Other sponsorships are currently being offered from $1,500 to $25,000. For information about the event contact Nancy Stalf at 303-433-0296.
