24th annual St. Joseph Table March 17, 18

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish will host its 24th annual St. Joseph Table following the 4 p.m. Mass, March 17 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 18.

The public is invited to attend the celebration honoring St. Joseph and to partake of an abundant variety of foods prepared by the parishioners. Bread and cookies will also be for sale at the celebration. There is no set fee or obligation for the feast, but donation boxes will be provided for diners who wish to make a contribution to the poor. All money raised by the celebration will be used to provide emergency help for those in need. The church is located at 3549 Navajo St., Denver.

The parish is the only National Italian Parish in the archdiocese and keeps alive the Italian tradition of honoring St. Joseph with the annual event. The celebration is offered in thanksgiving for St. Joseph's intercession and blessings. Each participant will receive a goodie bag that includes a small bread item, a holy card, and a fava bean. The items have been blessed by the priest. An Italian legends holds that a fava bean in your pantry and in your wallet will ensure that neither will go empty.
