Deacon served at Light of the World Parish

Rev. Mr. Richard Kramb, who served as a deacon at Light of the World Parish in Littleton for 16 years, was recalled for his love of the Church, his wife and family during his Funeral Mass, Jan. 4.

More than 250 people, including 13 fellow deacons and a 36-member Knights of Columbus honor guard, gathered at Light of the World for the Funeral Mass celebrated by Archbishop Charles Chaput, O.F.M. Cap.

Father Jerry Rohr, pastor of Light of the World, concelebrated the Mass and gave the homily. Rev. Mr. Al Sandoval, secretary for deacons, gave the eulogy.

Deacon Kramb was born Oct. 7, 1913, in Fremont, Ohio. He was ordained by then Archbishop James Casey on June 16, 1984. He and his wife, Anna Marie, were married for nearly 60 years. Friends recalled that he deeply felt her loss when she died last year.

"They were very close and loved their children very much," said longtime friend, Bill Duster, a fellow parishioner at Light of the World. "He was in one of the first classes of deacons, after the permanent diaconate was restored at the Vatican Council.

"Many people have said that he was a role model for the deacons that followed in his footsteps," added Duster.

He was interred at Mount Olivet Cemetery, next to his wife, Anna.
