Women invited to join in Lectio Divina
Religious Sister of Mercy Mary Timothea Elliott, Scripture scholar and professor at Saint John Vianney Theological Seminary, is offering an introduction to Lectio Divina for women, 7-9 p.m. on Nov. 11 at Bonfils Hall at the John Paul II Center for the New Evangelization, 1300 S. Steele St. in Denver.
Lectio Divina is a form of prayer that allows one to renew their understanding of Scripture through reading, prayer and reflecting on the Word of God.
Sister Timothea received her doctoral degree in Sacred Scripture at the Pontifical Institute of the Biblicum.
The Second Vatican Council, in the Apostolic Constitution "Dei Verbum" (The Word of God), encouraged the faithful to rediscover Lectio Divina as a fruitful way of prayer.
There is no registration or fee. Women interested in attending are asked to bring a pen and a Bible to the session. Handouts will be provided. In order to best provide an opportunity for reflective prayer, it is requested that young children and babies not accompany their mothers.
