Lectures & Presentations
What does the Catholic Church really say about:
Panelists:
Clare Chavez & Jay Ezell, Opus Dei members
Jan Hardy, ENDOW facilitator
Owen Vyner, parish director of marriage & family life
Topics:
"The Da Vinci Code is only fiction!" supporters of the book say. Yet, it does raise some interesting questions:
Opus Dei - Is it really a secretive cult?
Women - Does the Church really suppress them?
Sexuality - Does the Church really condemn it?
This 3-part presentation served to shed light on the truth about the members and work of Opus Dei, the beauty of the Church teaching on the feminine genius, and the wonderful gift of sacred sexuality.
Panelist Biographies:
Clare Chavez
A stay-at-home mother of 4 kids, Clare has been deeply connected to Opus Dei since her own childhood. Her early education was largely directed by Opus Dei members serving as teachers in the school system. She has been a member of the organization for nine years now. Clare is deeply invested with putting a face to the organization, thus revealing to people the truly loving nature of Opus Dei.
Jay Ezell
Husband of 14 years and father of five children, Jay has been involved with Opus Dei for over 10 years. He officially became a supernumerari member earlier this year. Professionally, Jay owns and operates a local graphic design company here in Denver. In contrast to the recent images of Opus Dei painted by The Da Vinci Code, Jay passionately testifies to the incredibly positive experience he claims Opus Dei has had on his life.
Jan Hardy
Jan is a former TV news anchor and a member of Endow (Educating on the Nature and Dignity of Women). A dynamic speaker, Jan offers audiences a heartfelt understanding of what the late John Paul the II termed "The Feminine Genius." Her mission, as she sees it, is to spread this message to women everywhere, affirming them for their essential role in the life of the Church today. As such, she will discuss the Church's understanding of women as bearers of the gift of the feminine genius.
