His Eminence Darío Castrillón Hoyos
 

His Eminence Darío Cardinal Castrillón Hoyos, prefect for the Congregation for the Clergy, spoke at 2:30 p.m. on "The Eucharist: Seed of the ‘New Evangelization'."

Cardinal Castrillón is the former bishop of Pereira, Colombia, and former archbishop of Bucamaranga, Colombia. He served as secretary of the Council of Latin American Bishop's Conferences (CELAM) 1984-87, and as CELAM's president, 1987-91

. In 1996, the Holy Father appointed him prefect of the Congregation for the Clergy, where he continues to serve. He was also named one of the three co-presidents of the 1997 Special Assembly for America of the Synod of Bishops.

Most Rev. Sean O'Malley, O.F.M. Cap.
Most Reverend Sean O'Malley, O.F.M. Cap., bishop of Fall River, Massachusetts, spoke at 1 p.m. on "The Eucharist: Source of Life for the Church."

A Capuchin Franciscan, Bishop O'Malley was active in social ministry to the Hispanic, Portuguese and Haitian communities before being named bishop of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands in 1984.

He was appointed bishop of Fall River, Mass., in 1992, and participated in the Special Assembly for Oceania of the Synod of Bishops in 1998. He has served as Apostolic Visitator for various seminaries in Central America and the Caribbean, and has served the National Conference of Catholic Bishops and United States Catholic Conference on a wide variety of committees.
