What does Catholic Communications mean to me?
Denver Catholic Register -
The Archdiocese of Denver's 106-year-old weekly newspaper
"I love the Register because it keeps me up to date with Catholic news, not just in Denver, but also throughout the world. I can always trust the news that I get from the Register, which is so rare for our culture today. I do thank you for spreading the "Good News" every week. Without the Register, I would miss some of the most important news today."
- Christy Burke, 23, youth minister at St. Thomas More Parish in Centennial.
"I love the Denver Catholic Register. It connects me with Denver. I read it cover to cover. I like everything that's in it. And I share it with [other former Denverites]."
- Sister of Loretto Rosemary Keegan, 75, a Denver founder of the Head Start preschool program for low-income children. She retired to the Loretto Motherhouse in Nerinx, Ky., in 2002, but still enjoys a subscription to the Denver Catholic Register.
El Pueblo Católico -
The Archdiocese of Denver's Spanish language monthly newspaper
"El Pueblo Católico is a great tool for me and for the catechesis I offer in my parish. I use the archbishop´s column, the section for kids, the different articles about the teachings of the Church, the different activities in the Archdiocese of Denver, the reflections … All of its content is a great service to the Hispanic community.
- Matilde Jiménez, 58, a catechist at St. Therese Parish in Frederick, Colo.
'Televised Mass' -
in English (6:30 a.m. Sundays on KBDI Channel 12) and in Spanish (5:30 a.m. most Sundays on Telemundo KDEN Channel 25)
"I bring holy Communion to residents at Frasier Meadows Health Care Center in Boulder. First we tape the TV Mass, then we go to Frasier Meadows and we put the Mass (tape) on. Afterwards we distribute Communion. We've done that for 10 years. These are people who can't go anywhere, it really means everything to them."
- Joan Wolfer, extraordinary minister of the Eucharist at Sacred Heart of Mary Parish in Boulder.
"[The 'Televised Mass'] means everything because I never missed Mass in my life. I went every Sunday, and having it on TV is wonderful. It makes my day."
- Marie Robinson, 82, a resident at Boulder Manor nursing home.
Website: www.archden.org -
highlights The Archdiocese of Denver's latest news, events, and archdiocesan office and parish information:
"The Web site helps me to stay connected with what's going on in the diocese. It acts as a central resource of timely information, and keeps me informed about educational opportunities I can attend to better understand and enrich my faith."
- Tim Keys, 28, an engineer and a parishioner at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
"As someone relatively new to the Catholic Church and the chancery, I probably visit the Web site more than most, sometimes daily, sometimes once or twice a week. I am usually looking for a variety of things: [among them] to see if there is any late-breaking archdiocesan news [or] to see what the archbishop or George Weigel has to say."
- Phil Webb, 50, a convert who is a former clergyman of the Episcopal Diocese of Colorado. He is a parishioner at Risen Christ Church and works in the Denver Archdiocese's Office of Liturgy.
