As you have probably noticed, the Biblical School has a new logo! The famous Catholic artist and author, Michael O’Brien, has generously agreed to let us use his icon, “Mother and Child Reading the Word”.

This painting, with its focus on the loving relationship between Mary and Jesus as well as the centrality of Scripture, embodies the Catholic approach to Scripture far better than any words can. In it is also found the Trinity: the arms of the Father reach out to hold up Mary and Child, who is looking with love at her across the Sacred Page, and the Holy Spirit hovering over them in the form of a dove. Mary is adorned with Joseph’s prayer shawl, the symbol of his loving protection and care. Many students have already commented on its remarkable warmth. A large, full-color print of this icon stands behind our reception desk at the CBS office. Come and see!
