Bishop Jose H. Gomez named Archbishop of San Antonio

Pope John Paul II has appointed Most Reverend Jose H. Gomez, S.T.D., presently Auxiliary Bishop of Denver, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of San Antonio, Texas.

Archbishop-elect Gomez will succeed Archbishop Patrick F. Flores, who has served as Archbishop of San Antonio since 1979.

A joint press conference with Archbishop Flores and Archbishop-elect Gomez will be held at the Chancery of the Archdiocese of San Antonio (2719 W. Woodland, San Antonio, Texas) at 10:00 a.m. (CST) Wednesday, December 29, 2004.
