statement on the passing of
Cardinal John O'Connor
"Cardinal O'Connor
was a bishop's bishop -- faithful and zealous in his love for the Church;
a skilled leader who never lost the courage to speak the truth; a man
of great heart and intellect; and above all, a disciple of Jesus Christ.
He was bigger than life in every virtue, a mentor and friend to myself
and a generation of bishops, and a father to his priests and people. He
will be very sorely missed."
