About the Lenten Season
The Archdiocese of Denver invites the faith community to join together in prayer, fasting, and almsgiving as we embark upon the Lenten journey towards the Cross and, ultimately, towards the Resurrection.

Pope Benedict XVI's Lenten Message:
Pope Benedict's Lenten message for 2007
, which serves to guide the faithful in their Lenten journey, considers the following excerpt from the Gospel of John: "They shall look on Him whom they have pierced" (John 19:37). The Holy Father's message continues in the theme of his first encyclical, Deus caritas est, "God is love," inviting the faithful to bask in the love of Christ as manifested in his total self-sacrifice on the Cross.
